Two Up is a detailed and descriptive memoir of the author’s long-awaited motorcycle tour of Nova Scotia. The book recounts his 11-day ride from Maryland to Portland, Maine where he boards the CAT ferry to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Once in Nova Scotia, he proceeds on an unforgettable journey that takes him places that until then he had only hoped of experiencing. The remainder of his route includes St. Mary’s Bay, Margaretsville, Halifax, Peggy’s Cove, Cape Breton, Sydney, the infamous motorcycle destination of The Cabot Trail, a ride over the Confederation Bridge and on to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, south through New Brunswick to Quoddy Head State Park and Lighthouse in Maine, then on to Thomaston, Maine before returning to Maryland. Throughout the book, the author shares his thoughts and experiences (the good, the bad, and the ugly) with the reader making them feel like a passenger experiencing the ride with him. He shares the natural beauty of Nova Scotia, the weather, the people, the hotels, the amazingly fresh and oftentimes local seafood he enjoyed at various fine dining and not-so-fine dining restaurants, and countless moments of self-reflection along the way.
